Mr. Michael E Gardner (Mike) started CMW Roof Consulting, Inc. (CMW), on September 1, 2017, after working 10+ years as a Building Enclosure Consultant for another A/E Firm.  Prior to working as a consultant, Mr. Gardner spent the previous 28+ years working on the contracting side of the roofing and waterproofing industry.

Knowledge & Certifications

Mr. Gardner first started working in the roofing and waterproofing industry during High School and continued working after graduation.

Mr. Gardner learned the roofing industry from being a laborer to managing a crew to managing multiple crews. In addition to installing roofing and waterproofing assemblies, Mr. Gardner also worked as an estimator and project manager during his 28+ years on the contracting side of the industry.

Prior to forming CMW, Mr. Gardner was employed by a national Engineering & Architecture firm working as a Project Manager, Building Enclosure Consultant from 2007 to 2017. During this employment, Mr. Gardner’s clients included: multiple school districts in Colorado, several municipalities and government entities in Colorado, multiple shopping malls and commercial properties throughout the US.

Mr. Gardner carried his contracting and consulting knowledge and experience into the forming of CMW. As such, CMW has been successful in providing expert Building Envelope Consulting services to our many clients. Our methodology stems from the experience gained over the last 16+ years as a building enclosure consultant and the previous 28+ years on the roofing and waterproofing contracting side of the industry.

Mr. Gardner earned his BA in Liberal Arts – Political Science from Colorado State University (CSU) and is a Registered Roofing Consultant (RRC) and a Registered Roofing Observer (RRO), each of these registrations are nationally recognized within the Building Industry. (Mr. Gardner earned his RRC registration in 2010 and his RRO registration in 2008.) To earn these registrations, a registrant must provide the following:

  • A predetermined number of years of experience in the roofing and waterproofing industry.
  • A predetermined number of Continuing Education Hours (CEH) in approved courses in roofing and waterproofing.
  • Pass the examination given for each registration.

To retain these registrations, a registrant must complete a minimum of ten (10) CEHs for the RRO registration and twelve (12) CEHs for the RRC registration. These CEHs must be approved roofing and waterproofing courses.
